It’s been over two years since my last post.. nothing much has changed. No new updates about the engine, I’m still searching. I know it will turn up someday. So the search goes on…

Almost on a daily basis, I check ebay listings and other sites for this MIA Camaro.. Hopefully, one day I will find it.. If I pulled a campaign together like PAPA John’s Pizza.. I could find it within a few weeks, but I don’t have that kind’a cash.. But good for him! See “http://www.papasroadtrip.com” for a great story.. The search continues…

Well, been sometime since I posted something out here.. I’ve been looking at any and all blue 69s showing up for sell. Also been watching bare blocks showing up on ebay just hoping my block will show up.. Still nothing.. I know the car and engine are out there, I’ll just have to wait until the right moment when the stars and moon are aligned, then “bingo” the car will show up..
If anyone out there is reading this, please keep an eye out for the CA car.. I’ll pay a pretty finders fee on this!

I wanted to try to finalize the lead that the car was salvaged in Ohio. So digging around on one of the camaro forums, I found a guy that mentioned Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), http://bmv.ohio.gov had public access and you could search using a VIN number for ownership.. Well, I tried it out, zero results. So that was good news, but maybe the salvaged title doesn’t show up on this search. So I contacted the BMW directly, via email and I received really great news, check it out….
Thank you for your recent correspondence. Hard copies of Ohio title records are kept on file with the County Clerk of Courts for 7 years. Computerized records normally will go back to 1993. Due to privacy laws, private owner information is not disclosed, however if an Ohio title records existed it would read “private owner” on the title search that you did from our website. If the vehicle was in the name of anything but a private owner the search would let you know which business it was titled to. I show no records of this vehicle being title in Ohio.

This is really great news, “No Records in Ohio”. So I still have hope that the car is in one piece and with someone out there. Now I’ll proceed with the Harrison lead and see where that goes.

With help from William, a user on camaros.org. He remembers the car because of the color combo, heater delete option. Looks like a Tom Harrison of IL was one of the owners until roughly around 1997 and sold the car.
The new owner as of 1997 or so was a customer of William’s Camaro business in Milwaukee and the new owner lived in Hartford, WI.

Dana’s take on the bad news….
Jim that’s not good I hope thats not the case. I just got of the phone with John I thought he would want to know and he told me he sold the car around 1991 and just three years ago the guy in Michigan called and wanted the protecto plate so he sold it to him he also said that the car could be salvaged because of theft and stripped so it could still be around just on a salvage title. He also said the guy that bought the plate, he thought did not even own the car it was a friend of his that had the car, he wanted to buy it from his friend and I asked him if he still had the address that he sent the plate and he said he did not.

Got some possible bad news from one of my sources, according to his contact, the car/vin was salvaged three years ago in Cincinnati, OH. Who would salvage a +60k car, unless it burned up in a house-fire or something like that.
I find that really hard to believe, so I’m questioning the likely-hood off that answer. Maybe the contact just didn’t feel like researching it completely. I think I’m going to place a few ads on Camaro websites and magazines… See if I can drum up some information that way.

A few dead ends have come around. The car maybe registered under a dealer license, so having trouble locating it using a VIN search. Not giving up, still have a few options.
