And the search continues…..

I wanted to try to finalize the lead that the car was salvaged in Ohio. So digging around on one of the camaro forums, I found a guy that mentioned Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), had public access and you could search using a VIN number for ownership.. Well, I tried it out, zero results. So that was good news, but maybe the salvaged title doesn’t show up on this search. So I contacted the BMW directly, via email and I received really great news, check it out….

Hello James,
Thank you for your recent correspondence. Hard copies of Ohio title records are kept on file with the County Clerk of Courts for 7 years.  Computerized records normally will go back to 1993.  Due to privacy laws, private owner information is not disclosed, however if an Ohio title records existed it would read “private owner” on the  title search that you did from our website.  If the vehicle was in the name of anything but a private owner the search would let you know which business it was titled to.  I show no records of this vehicle being title in Ohio.

This is really great news, “No Records in Ohio”. So I still have hope that the car is in one piece and with someone out there. Now I’ll proceed with the Harrison lead and see where that goes.
